6th Central-Eastern European Symposium
on Free Nucleic Acids

23 March 2020

Dear Registrant,

Thank you for supporting and planning to attend the Central-Eastern European Symposium on Free Nucleic Acids 2020 scheduled on May 28-29 in Bratislava, Slovakia. During these uncertain times, the health and well-being of our attendees is and always will be our top priority. Keeping that in mind, the organizers have taken the difficult decision to postpone the symposium in light of the current COVID-19 situation.
Further information will be shared as it becomes available.

Thank you for your patience and support as we work on the details of the upcoming events.

Stay safe and healthy

About the conference

Cell-free DNA (or extracellular DNA because in vivo it is everything but cell-free) has revolutionized prenatal medicine and has the ambition to save millions of lives with cancer screening. Extracellular DNA is much more than just a biomarker, as it is recognized by immune cells and induces inflammation. The prognostic, diagnostic and therapeutic applications are, however, dependent on the knowledge of the biology including origin and fate of the DNA. The tradition of the Central and Eastern European Symposium on Free Nucleic Acids started in Budapest in 2010 and was followed by symposia in Olomouc (2012), Martin (2014), Split (2016) and Debrecen (2018). In 2020 we will meet in Bratislava, the capital city of Slovakia. The congress venue is the beautiful Carlton hotel, which is located in the old town center just a few steps away from the Danube river and in walking distance from the castle. Let us share new ideas and results as well as enjoy Bratislava!

The deadline for abstract submission is April 1, 2020.

About the organizer

6th Central-Eastern European Symposium is organised by the Institute
of Molecular Biomedicine (IMBM), Faculty of Medicine, Comenius
University together with the Medirex Group.

IMBM is a research institute of the Faculty of Medicine at the Comenius University. It builds upon a multidisciplinary team of researchers from different fields including medicine, physiology, genetics, molecular biology and biophysics. In vivo and in vitro experiments modeling human diseases are combined with tight clinical cooperations to analyze causes and consequences of extracellular DNA variability. Research is focused on extracellular DNA in metabolic syndrome, rheumatoid arthritis, inflammatory bowel diseases, sepsis and renal diseases. The main motto of IMBM is: Science must be fun!

Medirex, a. s., a member of the MEDIREX GROUP Group, represents a complex of diagnostic laboratories in the fields of clinical biochemistry, haematology, clinical immunology, toxicology, medical genetics, bacteriology, mycology, parasitology, serology, virology, molecular biology and microbiology of the environment. It provides comprehensive laboratory diagnostics for the most important healthcare facilities in Bratislava, Košice and their surroundings, for a large number of healthcare centers or medical facilities, and for a large number of general and specialized outpatient clinics. Medirex operates state-of-the-art and largest central laboratories, not only in Slovakia, but also in Central Europe within a network of hospital, out-patient clinics and diagnostic laboratories.

Registration is possible from January 13, 2020. Fee for the conference includes the ticket for Gala Dinner. An accomodation is not included in the registration fee. Please do not forget to book it in advance by yourself.
